The "Chinese bio-energy" restores through the etymological explanation of the old ideograms all the traditional thinking that serves as a basis for Chinese medicine. The author, Jacques-André Lavier, was one of the great Western specialists of acupuncture and Chinese medicine in the 1960s and the defender of authenticity and tradition in Chinese medical thinking.
All his work was based on the translation of ancient texts and on the etymological study of their characters. In this book, he gives the reader of his exceptional knowledge of the old characters and their etymology and presents a very complete picture of the Chinese medical tradition, its underlying thought and its concepts. Starting from the original Proto-Chinese roots, the author first puts in place the man between heaven and soil before exposing the conception of the universe with the Tao, the Yang and the Yin, tchi you, the cyclic concept, the five elements and the system of the ten Kan ("trunks"), highlighting analogy as the intellectual process of tradition.
Then he successively discusses the human being and his various plans, the Energy Qi (Cch'i) in all aspects and in his relations with the five elements, the duodenaire system of the twelve Czeu ("branches"), the six energies and their implications in The organization of the man. Two chapters are then devoted to the energy networks of peridromies / meridians and wonderful allodromias / ships.
To conclude, Jacques-André Lauva explains the point of view of the traditional Chinese doctor in his approach to pathology. The "Chinese bio-energy" will answer questions about the tradition of Chinese medicine therapists, as it will satisfy the intellectual curiosity of all those interested in Chinese civilization and thought.
